Summer Term 2007

Remembrance Day
Sunday 11 November 2007

On Sunday 11th of November we had a Remembrance service. It was special, because it fell on a Sunday.  We sang a hymn, and Charlie Mayne read a poem he and Mr. Taylor had chosen. Mr Taylor also told us about two men, who were in a Prisoner of War camp, and how they helped each other through.  We then went outisde, all of us with our poppies and had the Ashdown Role of Honour. It was dedicated to those boys that had been at Ashdown  who had been killed in the  two World Wars.  William St John also played Highland Cathedral on the bagpipes.  We stood at the front of the school when the gun marked  the beginning of the two minute silence. Miss Flic played the Last Post on the trumpet, which was a piece during the war which would wake the soldiers up. The gun then went again, the end of the two minutes. Miss Flic played Reveille.  It was a good day.
