Miss Hiron's Lesson in Kiteflying!

The 5s were learning about flight in their DT lesson and therefore had the opportunity to make and test two kites. One was made using only an A4 sheet of paper and a splint. The other was more fragile, using a splint and colourful tissue paper for the kite and tail.

It was a perfect day to take the creations onto the patch in the wind and sunshine.

The children used lengths of cotton attached to their kites and launched them into the air.  Some were extremely effective. They were able to witness the reasons why different styles flew better or worse than others.  It was a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon.
