Summer Term 2008

4s Visit the Lake District
11-17 May

My favourite part of the Lake District trip was the Caving in North Yorkshire. I liked it because it was the most unusual of the activities we did. I liked the idea of going through small gaps and getting wet. The two guides  helped us to get through the caves. Everyone loved the last cave because it was the most challenging of all the caves. The water level was very high. About as high as my waist.

In the Lake District, my favourite bit had to be the caving. We had so much fundown in the caves and got really wet. The water was really cold. There wasn't that much space to walk through because it was narrow and the ceiling was really low. In the last cave the water got higher and the ceiling got lower so it was hard to get out with freezing cold water up to your waist! When we managed to get out, we were all so muddy! We had to lie down and wriggle out.

We put on our gear and set off for caving. A few people fell into puddles on the way there and when we finally got to the first cave we lisend to the instructore. We went in and turned on our torches. It was very wet and dark because there was a stream running through it. It was deep in some partsand when we got out we were so wet! The next few caves weren't that challenging but once we went into the fifth cave it became much harder. The exit was very narrow and the water was up to your waist. I really enjoyed caving and it was my favourite activity in the lake district.
