Summer Term 2007

5s - Fun and Games at Hever
 21st May 2007

Yesterday the 5s went to Hever Castle. It was a short trip on the coach And when we got there it was pouring with rain. We walked up to the castle but found it was closed till 11:00 so we had to look around the formal gardens.  In the formal gardens there were lots of big urns and statues of naked people.  At the end of the gardens there was a huge lake with lots of little boats on.  After that we went into the castle. There was a large cosy drawing room belonging to the Astor family. After that we went into a big dining room with some tapestries in it. Up the stairs there was Anne Boleyn’s bedroom. There was a secret chapel and an armoury. After lunch we went to an adventure playground and then we went home.

On Monday I went to Hever Castle.  We first looked around the gardens. It was beautiful.   Then  we  went  in  our  groups.  I was with Miss Lyn and Mademoiselle Biddable (Bidaubayle). Then we went in to the castle.   We first looked in the drawing room.   Our first question  was:  there  is  something  in  the  drawing  room   that  made it  look  old;  the  answer  was  the  windows.  We  then  went  into  the  hall  which  used  to  be  the  kitchen.  The question for that was:   where   could   you see the Tudor rose?  I saw it first - it was on the ceiling.  Then we went to Anne Boleyn’s bedroom.  We had to find the pendant on Anne  Boleyn’s necklace. There was a big B.  After looking through the castle we had lunch.   It was very yummy.  Then we got in to our groups again and separated.   My group went to the water maze.  I got soaked but it was  still  really  fun.  After that we went to all the other mazes.  Once we  had  done  all  the  activity’s  we  went  back to  the  coach and back to school.  I had a great day.
