Ashdown House School appoints Hilary Phillips as Head from September 2019
Ashdown House School, part of The Cothill Trust, announces that it has appointed Hilary Phillips as Head of the school.
Mrs Phillips is currently Head of Monmouth School Girls’ Prep, a leading independent day and boarding preparatory school in Wales. Prior to joining Monmouth School Girls’ Prep in 2013, she was Director of Pastoral Care and Head of Languages at Edgeborough School in Surrey and Arnold House School in London. During her time at Monmouth School Girls’ Prep, the school achieved an “Excellent” rating across the board in the 2016 Estyn Inspection, the Welsh equivalent of Ofsted.
Mrs Phillips takes over the role from interim Head, Mike Davies and will officially take up the role in September 2019.
Announcing the appointment, Chief Executive of The Cothill Trust, Tom Beardmore Gray said: “The Cothill Trust is delighted to welcome Mrs Phillips to Ashdown House at such an important and exciting time. Hilary brings a wealth of experience and expertise from her previous roles which mean she is very well placed to build on the excellent work of Mike Davies and the school’s senior leadership team.”

Ashdown House School is a leading co-educational, day and boarding prep school situated in 40 acres of grounds on the edge of the Ashdown Forest in East Sussex. Founded in 1843, it is one of the oldest preparatory schools in the country – combining a long history of academic excellence with a modern approach to learning. It became part of The Cothill Trust in 2009.
