Ashdown House is a successful and vibrant co-educational preparatory school offering day and boarding for pupils aged between 7 and 13 years old. The majority of our children board by the age of 10-11.

Ashdown House is located on the edge of the Ashdown Forest near Forest Row in East Sussex. It is situated in its own grounds of 45 acres, surrounded by farmland and woodland. It is a safe, secure and beautiful setting in which children can learn, play, explore and fulfil all their potential.

Ashdown House aims:

To stimulate, encourage, challenge and nurture the talents and potential of a child both academically, pastorally and socially in a warm, kind and trusting home from home environment. With a strong base of self-confidence, every child will be equipped to cope and succeed in the outside world beyond Ashdown.

To meet our Aim, we need to:

• Offer a broad, dynamic and exciting education both academically and through a diverse and varied extra-curricular programme
• Provide outstanding teaching, coaching and care to ensure the development of pupils in all areas of School life
• Encourage high standards of behaviour, manners and courtesy to one another and promote a strong sense of community based on trust and kindness to others
• To build every child’s self-confidence and self-esteem through praise and encouragement in all aspects of prep school life
• Make school life an extension of all the positive aspects of home and family life
• Review and appraise the systems needed to keep up to date with current legislation and the needs of all members of the school community
• Communicate regularly and freely with parents to foster the spirit of partnership between the School and the parents
