Maintenance Assistant

An opportunity has arisen for a Maintenance Assistant to join our team at Ashdown House School.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, reliable individual to assist in maintaining and improving the wonderful buildings which look out over the Ashdown Forest.  Previous maintenance experience would be helpful, but is not essential as training can be given.  The successful candidate will report directly to the Head of Maintenance and indirectly to the Head.

Main Responsibilities:

  • General maintenance of the school as directed by the head of maintenance;
  • Painting and decorating, basic joinery;
  • Repairs of a non-specialist nature;
  • Assist the grounds staff as required.

This is initially a part-time position and the amount of hours will be discussed at interview; salary, working days and times to be discussed.

The most important attribute in the successful candidate will be a willingness to help out and to try to turn their hand to anything.  Ashdown House is a friendly community where there is a real feeling of being part of a team.  Lunches are provided free of charge (and are brilliant!)

Teacher of English as an Additional Language

Teacher of English as an Additional Language required 2 days a week, temporary contract for one academic year.

Ashdown House school is looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated EAL teacher required to teach pupils who have English as an additional language within one-to-one, paired and small group lessons.

The successful candidate will have relevant experience and will hold an appropriate qualification.
